Workout motivation of the day: "When you can't control what's happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what's happening. Thats where your power is. Knowing the difference between the things we can control and the things we can’t is a topic that comes up frequently, both in my own self-reflection and in conversations with clients I coach too. In endurance sports I can control how well I train and prepare for competition, but I can’t control where I place in that competition. I never know who else is going to show up, what the race conditions will be, if something goes wrong. This is after all the joy of competition. You must focus on the process not the outcome. In most situations, we can influence the outcome, but we can’t control it. The lesson in this quote has been true for me today in sports, business as well as in life.
